Mit 1 grosser Freude ersehe ich aus Ihrer gestrigen Karte, 2 dass Sie mir nunmehr "op. 101" übergeben können und ich werde mich, wenn is Ihnen recht ist, Freitag d. 2. Juli nach 2 Uhr im Caffée Vindobona einfinden um das Manuskript Ihres ⇧ Opus [illeg.] ⇧ auch die Bilder zur Mondscheinsonate entgegenzunehmen. If it is all right with you, I will look for you on Friday July 2 after 2 p.m. in the Café Vindobona in order to receive the manuscript of your Opus [illeg.] and also the photographs for the "Moonlight" Sonata. Footnotes1 Receipt of this postcard is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 3/1, p. 2246, June 26, 1920: "Von Hertzka (Br.): werde Freitag um 2h im Cafehaus erscheinen." ("From Hertzka (letter): will appear in the coffee-house at 2 p.m. on Friday."). -- The response is recorded (ibid): "An Hertzka (Br.): bitte ihn wegen Abreise schon Mittwoch; lege Mozios Erlagschein bei u. die Auslassung Dr. Bienenfeld." ("To Hertzka (letter): I ask him for Wednesday instead, in view of [my impending] departure; I enclose Mozio's postal payment form and the omission of Dr. Bienenfeld."). 2 No correspondence from Schenker to Hertzka (UE) from this time is known to survive. Nor is writing of this postcard recorded in Schenker's diary (OJ 3/1, pp. 2245-2246). |
