St. Moritz, 2. IX. 1930

Lieber verehrter Herr Schenker, 1

St. Moritz, September 2, 1930

Dear revered Mr. Schenker, 1

I have been here only a few days ‒ until then, I was in North Germany ‒ and should if possible very much like to try to visit you. How much longer will you be in Galtür ‒ or indeed, are you still there at all? I should be very grateful for a brief message from you.

Yours,
with warmest greetings,

Footnotes

1 Heinrich and Jeanette left Galtür for Salzburg on September 3, 1930, before Furtwängler's letter was delivered, returning to Vienna on September 8. Receipt of this letter is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 4/3, p. 3512, September 6, 1930, while they were staying in Salzburg: "Von Furtwängler (Br. ("From Furtwängler (letter via Galtür): from St. Moritz, asks how much longer I will be in Galtür."). ("To Furtwängler (letter): thank [him] for his readiness to come; sadly, I am already in Vienna.").
OC 54 is a folder of correspondence relating to the publishing firm of Drei Masken Verlag and Das Meisterwerk in der Musik. This letter, and OC 54/296‒300, were filed there presumably because they were tangentially related to what became Meisterwerk III .
