Liebe Frau Doktor! 1

Dear Mrs. [Schenker], 1

Most heartfelt thanks for your kind letter, 2 which gave me immense pleasure. I would have preferred to answer it right away in detail, but various things intervened and so today I will just say that all is well with us, and we are both very busy. Perhaps we will see you soon again in Vienna, which would certainly please us. Cordial greetings from me and my sister.

Mrs. P. 3 is staying at her son's house.

Footnotes

1 Ruine Aggstein: ruined castle in the Danube valley between Vienna and Linz, near Krems. The date in the postmark could be April 3, 13, or 23.

2 This letter is not known to survive.

3 Possibly Mrs. Evelina Pairamall, former pupil of Schenker, Polish Jew. However, she was certainly in Vienna in 1936, but may have returned to Poland in 1938.
