Lieber Verehrter! 1

Bei der Durchsicht des Katalogs der englischen Abteilung der Theater- und Musikausstellung Wien 1892 2 bemerke ich eben, dass der Maler Felix Moscheles – offenbar ein Sohn des Musikers – damals viele ererbte Stücke ausstellte, darunter von Beethoven aber nur: das Originalmanuskript des Adagios und er Fuge aus der Klaviersonate op. 110 Skizzen zum c-moll-Quartett 3 und ein Skizzenbuch, das von Aloys Fuchs über Mendelssohn an Ignaz Moscheles gekommen war. 4 Dagegen stellte Herr G. B. Davy in Kingussie–Scotland aus: die Autographen der Liedersammlungen op. 108 und 118 sowie des Adagios und der Fuge aus der Sonate op. 110, ferner Skizzenbuch zu op. 102 Nr. 2. 5

Dear revered friend, 1

Looking through the catalog of the English section of the theater and music exhibition in Vienna of 1892, 2 I have just noticed that the painter Felix Moscheles, apparently a son of the musician, at the time exhibited many pieces he had inherited, including (from Beethoven alone) sketches for the Quartet in C minor 3 and a sketchbook that came to Ignaz Moscheles by way of Aloys Fuchs and Mendelssohn. 4 By contrast, Mr. G. B. Davy of Kingussie, Scotland, exhibited the autograph manuscript of the song collections Op. 108 and Op. 118, and the Adagio and Fugue from the Sonata Op. 110, as well as the Sketchbook for Op. 102, No. 2. 5
