Wien, 8. September 1932

Lieber Verehrter! 2

Telefon R 45–6–72.

Ich begrüsse Sie und Ihre Frau Gemahlin wieder in Wien.

Schönstens
Ihr

Vienna, September 8, 1932

Dear revered friend, 2

I have just received a letter from Hoboken, forwarded from Trofaiach, which contains everything that we had long expected. Before I reply, which is in part urgent, I would very much like to speak with you. Please therefore determine the time and place – perhaps the Café Aspang – where I can meet you.

On Monday evening (8 o’clock) my family is coming home; and Saturday afternoon, from 4 to 7 o’clock, I have accepted an invitation from Portheim; that can, if necessary, be postponed. Telephone R 45–6–72.

I welcome you and your wife back in Vienna.

With best wishes,
Your

Footnotes

1 This typewritten address has been crossed out and an unknown hand has written “Igls bei Innsbruck Bei [illeg]“ interlinearly in faint crayon; then the latter has been partly erased and also crossed out, and a second unknown hand has written “Wien III.” in heavy crayon.

2 This is one of two postcards written by Deutsch on September 8, urgently requesting a meeting; only the second, OJ 10/3, [179], is summarized in Schenker’s diary.
