Sehr geehrter Herr Doktor!

Bitte, lesen Sie Herrn Frankensteins Musikalisches Wochenblatt No 13.

Dear Dr. [Schenker],

Some free time is here used to write and inform you that the main thrust of the tweak we discussed this morning by the Berlin jackass 1 has dissipated into thin air. Please read Mr. Frankenstein's Musikalisches Wochenblatt No. 13 as well. The facsimile of the Beethoven letter to Neffzer 2 can also be found there. Before long I shall send you more about this. The gentleman has not even seen the autograph!

With cordial greetings,
[signed:] Dr. Theodor von Frimmel

Footnotes

1 Esel (jackass): unknown.

2 Baron Franz Alexander von Neffzer (1779-1864). The letter in question is most plausibly dated to the summer of 1813 by the editors of the Beethoven Briefe Gesamtausgabe (Munich: Henle, 1996), vol. II, No. 660. (It concerns something that Neffzer intends sending to Beethoven, and Beethoven explains that he may not be in Vienna and that his servant is not always home.)
