¹ Receipt of this lettercard is recorded in Heinrich’s diary for November 25, 1930: “Von Mozio (Kartenbrief): bittet wieder um „Geduld“ . .” (“From Mozio (lettercard): he asks again for "patience" … .”).

He will definitely hand over "a rather large sum"; the rest he will comply with in "fixed arrangements"!”), after which Schenker extends the deadline by a month through his attorney; January 27, 1931: “Von Sophie (Br.): erfuhr durch Julian, Mozios Lage sei traurig, er habe die Unterstützung eines Freundes in Anspruch nehmen müssen.” (“From Sophie (letter): she learned from Julian that Mozio’s situation was sorrowful; he had to avail himself of the support of a friend.”). — Schenker has been pestering Moriz since 1929 to return the asset that he invested in Moriz’s Arzberg property development. Heinrich’s diaries for 1931 to 1934 record Moriz’s mental deterioration, most dramatically the collapse of the Creditanstalt Bank in May 1931 (setting off the succession of bank collapses leading to European-wide depression), and trace a series of installments paid monthly between 1931 and 1934, but apparently still incomplete at the time of Schenker’s death in January 1935. Moriz himself committed suicide in 1936.
