Presse wieder über die Abwertung ¹ – es läßt sich ja nichts tun dagegen. — Noch vor 12^h nehme ich mein kleines Frühstück, was die anderen Leute anregt das Gleiche zu tun. Der Train langt pünktlich ein, um 3^h bin ich in der Cottagegasse 21. Frl. Lisa hat sich wirklich bemüht, ich brauche nicht im Salon zu schlafen, habe ein großes Zimmer ebenerdig, in dem ich gut {118} ein paar Tage auf die ruhige liebe Biedermaier [sic]-Mansarde werde warten können, in der ich früher gewohnt habe. Kein Fließwasser, keine Zentralheizung! — Besorge noch die Zeitung u. das Obst – sehr müde! —

⇧ Up at 7 o’clock – a midday snack purchased, and already things are moving on, the last stage of the long journey. There are only four people in the compartment; it is overcast and cold. I read again in the Neue Freie Presse about the currency devaluation ¹ – nothing can, in fact, be done about it. — Even before noon, I have my little breakfast, which motivates the others to do the same. The train arrives punctually; at 3 o’clock I am at Cottagegasse 21. Lisa has made a great effort: I do not have to sleep in the lounge, I have a large ground-floor room, in which I can comfortably spend {118} a few days waiting for the lovely quiet Biedermeier attic room in which I had previously lived. No running water, no central heating. — I still go out for the newspaper and the fruit – very tired! —
