Friedrich Austerlitz

Austrian journalist and politician.
At 25, Austerlitz was discovered by Victor Adler and hired to write for his social-democratic Arbeiter-Zeitung, becoming the chief editor of its political department in 1895. He became a member of the Social Democratic Party, with a special interest in freedom of the press, on which he was to initiate important legislation in 1922. In 1920, he was elected to the chamber of deputies of the Austrian National Parliament, and for ten years from 1919 he sat on the constitutional court.
