Lieber Verehrter! 1

Vielen Dank für beide Karten. 2

Ich kann das D.-Schl. nur warm empfehlen. Liegt in Aigen an der Bahn Gastein-Salzburg (Personenzüge-Station). Mit ganzer oder teilweise genossener Pension. Wohlfeil, gut, aufmerksam.

Dear revered friend, 1

Many thanks for your two postcards. 2

I can only recommend the Doktorschlößel most warmly. It is located in Aigen, along the railroad line between Gastein and Salzburg (local train station). With full or partial board. Inexpensive, good, attentive. – In Salzburg I would recommend the Hotel Stein near the Staatsbrücke (main bridge). – Hoboken is supposed to be in Salzburg around the 1st of September, on account of Stefan Zweig. I shall stay until about the 31st of August. Best greetings to your wife, and to you!

Your faithfully devoted

Footnotes

1 Receipt of this postcard is recorded in Schenker’s diary for August 22, 1934: “Von Deutsch (Ansichtsk.): Gruß aus Aigen, empfiehlt die Pension, bleibt bis 31. d.” (“From Deutsch (picture postcard): greetings from Aigen, he recommends the guesthouse, is staying until the 31st of the month”).

2 Between the receipt of Deutsch’s previous letter on September 7 and the writing of this postcard, Schenker’s diary records the writing of only one postcard, on August 18, “über die Begebenheiten während v. H.s Besuch” (“on the events during Hoboken’s visit”).
