Sehr geehrter Herr Doktor! 1

Dear Doctor, 1

Many thanks for your friendly letter, 2 which I am forwarding to his proper address. 3 Yesterday, I learned that the court jeweler, Louis Koch, has taken over the Meinert autograph manuscripts following the latter's death, and have written to him immediately about matters that concern me. Perhaps you might do the same about yours. 4 I am off {recto} to Sicily on October 3 with weary bones.

Cordial greetings from Yours truly,

Footnotes

1 Receipt of this postcard is not recorded in Schenker's diary (OJ 1/13, p. 429).

2 Schenker's communication is not known to survive, but its writing is recorded at OJ 1/13, p. 425(b), September 23, 1918: "Antwort an Otto Erich Deutsch mit einem Seitenhieb nach seinem Mitarbeiter Scheibler." ("Reply to Otto Erich Deutsch with a passing shot at his collaborator Scheibler.").

3 i. e. to Ludwig Scheibler: see OJ 10/3, [1] and OJ 10/3, [2].

4 Schenker did as Deutsch suggested. Koch answered on October 23, 1913, telling Schenker about his collection of Beethoven autographs: OC B/273, see the commentary to WSLB 210, May 2, 1914.
