[printed:] Postkarte
[picture: palace in park, captioned: “Wien – Schönbrunn”]

[An:] Herrn Professor Dr. H. Schenker
WIEN III.
Keilgasse 8
{verso}
Wien, den 1. Mai 1928.

Sehr verehrter Herr Doktor 1

Mit vielen Grüssen und besten
Empfehlungen von uns beiden –
Ihr sehr ergebener

[To:] Professor H. Schenker
Keilgasse 8
VIENNA III
{verso}
Vienna, May 1, 1928

Much revered Dr. [Schenker], 1

I recently collected the “Unfinished” myself. I have just now experienced a similar thing with Universal Edition; and when I complained I also rubbed your own matter 2 into the noses of those gentlemen a bit!

I am going to Zseliz for a few days, as the guest of the current owner, Countess Coudenhove). 3 On the 10th of the month there is another radio talk, on Schubert’s settings of poems by Walter Scott. 4

With many greetings and
best regards from the two of us,
Your very devoted

Footnotes

1 Receipt of this postcard is not recorded in Schenker’s diary.

2 Possibly Schenker’s anger at Universal Edition for having invited someone else to prepare a new edition of Mozart’s piano sonatas, based on the original manuscripts.

3 Mitsuko Thekla Maria, Countess of Coudenhove-Kalergi (1874–1941), the widow of Richard von Coudenhove-Kalergi.

4 The program is listed in the May 7 edition of Radio Wien . It included Ellen’s first, second and third songs, the latter two not only in their original versions but also in ensemble arrangements by Brahms and Ferdinand Schubert, respectively.
