Footnotes

1 Receipt of this calling card is not recorded in Schenker's diary.

2 Lafite directed the Wiener Singakademie, a semiprofessional concert choir, from 1900 to 1905. Schenker's visit may have related to the performance of his a capella chorus for mixed choir, Vorüber, Op. 7, No. 3 at a choral concert by the Wiener Singakademie in the Großer Musikvereinsaal on December 18, 1903 under the direction of Hermann Grädener (www.wienersingakademie.at/archiv/). According to Federhofer, Heinrich Schenker nach Tagebüchern und Briefen ... (1985), p. 19, fn 37, Schenker conducted the first performance himself.
