Footnotes

i.e., the underground pneumatic tube system throughout Vienna, for express delivery.

Seligmann is almost certainly referring to Schenker’s close friend, Moriz Violin.

Kreuzenstein Castle, a medieval fortress about 20 miles north of Vienna, destroyed in the Thirty Years War and rebuilt in the late 19th century; it now serves as an armory museum.

From the departure time, train station and destination given here, this note must refer to an excursion that is also mentioned in a postcards of June 4 and June 7, 1908, from Seligmann to Schenker (OJ 14/23, [11] and OJ 14/23, [12]).
