Ich werde wo[h]l auf meinen Sommer verichten, denn Karli ist vor Herbst sicher nicht transportabel. Geht oder steht er doch noch nicht.

{2} Wegen Frankfurt will ich nun versuchen, ob es mir diesmal gelingt nicht vorbei zu reden. Prof. Altmann ist überhaupt nicht orientiert, sonst müsste er wissen daß Szekles nicht übernommen werden soll. Doch um all dies handelt es sich nicht. Schnabel wird nach seinen Kräften beim Ministerium den Fall zu erledigen trachten. Ihm handelt es sich nur darum die Frankfurter Kreise interessiert resp. nicht abgeneigt[?] zu wissen. Deshalb war Klenau willkommen, der nur Simon zu gewinnen hatte. {3} Kein Frankfurter Mann soll im Ministerium etwas durchsetzen. Also wertvoll u. nützlich wäre für mich zu wissen, ob Simon sich Klenau gegenüber geneigt zeigte. Oberbürgermeister Aumüller soll auch (für Frankfurt) ausschlaggebend[corr] sein. Dorthin werde ich einen Weg finden müßen [sic] Du kannst also nur eines tun: in Erfahrung bringen, ob Klenau irgend eine Antwort hat. Das Andere wird sich hoffentlich gehen.

I hope that the imminent summer will restore your old strength to the two of you. I shall probably do without my summer holiday, since little Karl will certainly not be transportable before the autumn. He cannot yet walk or stand.

Professor Altmann is not at all in the picture, otherwise he would know that Sekles is not to be taken on. But it's not a question of any of this. Schnabel will do all in his power at the Ministry to take care of the matter. For him is is merely a question of getting the Frankfurt circles interested, or not averse. That is why I welcomed the help of Klenau, who only had to win over Simon. {3} No one in Frankfurt should get involved in the Ministry's business. Thus it would be valuable and useful for me to know whether Simon indicated that he was in favor [of my case] to Klenau.
