My dear Wilhelm, 1

Too bad that you’re not coming along. 2 We are coming for sure for 8-15 days at the end of August or the beginning of September. The gardener, Spieß, did not answer. When we are at your place, we will again stop in at Waidhofen and take care of the matter. 3

Greetings and kisses from me and Lie-Liechen

Footnotes

1 Writing of this postcard is recorded in Schenker’s diary for June 13, 1924: “An Wilhelm (K.): kommen bestimmt Ende August oder anfangs September für 1–2 Wochen.” (“To Wilhelm (postcard): we shall come for sure at the end of August or beginning of September, for one to two weeks.”).

2 Heinrich’s diary for June 13, 1924 records: “Von Wilhelm (Ansichtsk.): kann nicht mit uns reisen, erwartet uns.” (“From Wilhelm (picture postcard): cannot travel with us, is expecting us.”).

3 The Schenkers departed Galtür on September 4 and arrived in Vienna on September 5, so the visit to Wilhelm did not take place. On August 18 (diary), Schenker informed the Bednařs that they were not going to Wilhelm, and on August 20 (OJ 5/38, [13]) wrote to Wilhelm saying: “once again we have to postpone a trip to you which we have so very much looked forward to, in particular on account of the new maid.”
