Sehr geehrter Herr Direktor!

Dear Director,

In your itemized confirmation of receipt, 1 the special and most important confirmation of receipt is lacking: that of the Preface, which is actually the most important feature of the work. Accordingly, I ask you to confirm to me by return of post receipt of the Preface, which I placed in its package in the presence of several people at my apartment on Sunday afternoon. 2 I will get back to you about the title of the book.

[overwritten across para. 1 and in left margin in crayon:] Dealt with

With best wishes,
Your devoted
