Footnotes1 Presumably the son of the concert promoter from Mannheim, mentioned twice in the diary in the summer of 1912 (July 31 and (August 9). Schenker met the Kleins and their son while on holiday in the south Tyrol, and he was thanked by the father for the encouragement he gave to the son. The parents were, presumably, Jacob and Wilhelmine Klein, who sent Schenker a greeting card from Mannheim on November 13, 1912 [= OJ 13/29, [9]], which was also signed by the pianist Moriz Rosenthal. The young Klein had previously visited Schenker on March 20, 1914. 2 Long critique of Riemann in the preliminary remarks of the Erläuterunsausgabe of Op. 110, found on pp. 25–27 of the original edition, pp. 9–15 of Oswald Jonas's revised edition (Vienna: UE, 1972). |
