The Santiago Conservatorium, or the National Conservatory of Music in Santiago, Chile, was founded in 1850. Jeanette Schenker sought it out on her visit to the city in Summer 1936 in order to introduce the institution to Heinrich Schenker’s theories. She visited it on July 29 and spoke to one of the piano professors, and the next day went to the home of the Dean, Domingo de la Cruz, with whom she left Universal Edition’s prospectus of her husband's publications.
