Family of Viennese Jewish textile merchants and tailors, one branch of which maintained a close friendship with Heinrich and Jeanette Schenker.

In Schenker's time, there were four brothers:

• Moritz Rothberger (1865‒1944)
• Heinrich Rothberger (1868‒1953)
• Carl Julius Rothberger (1871‒1945)

The fourth brother, Alfred, sculptor and medal maker, and his wife were close friends with Heinrich and Jeanette Schenker from at least as early as 1918 onward, and their three children, of which the elder son was a pupil of Schenker's in the 1934/35 season:

• Hilda Rothberger (1892‒?)
• Karl Rothberger (1915‒39)
• Albert Rothberger (1917‒38)
• Agathe Rothberger (1921‒?; emigrated 1939)
