Theater located on the Dr. Karl-Lueger-Ring, opposite the Rathaus, in the 1st district of Vienna (Innere Stadt).

The Burgtheater is the second oldest theater company in the world, founded in 1741, and one of the most prestigious in the German-speaking world. Its present Italian Renaissance-style building, designed by Gottfried Semper and Karl von Hasenauer, was erected in 1888.

Schenker, who took a keen interest in theater, attended there quite frequently.
