Liebe Li-Li! 1

Postcard

From: Fanny Violin,
[Vienna] VI, Stumpergasse 65

To: Mrs. Lili Schenker,
[Vienna] III,
Keilgasse 8
[postmark:] || [illeg] VIENNA 89 | [illeg]. X. 22 38 | * 50 * ||

Liebe Li-Li! 1

That we missed one another is my fault. 2 As always, on the days on which I {verso} plan to do something, I can never get away from the office. Today, however, I was determined to carry out my intention to visit Lie-Lie, and did not set out from Hietzing until 6:30 ‒ on the off-chance [of finding you at home].

I can't tell you when I will come, but since I know that as always you will be leaving on [the feast of Sts] Peter and Paul, 3 I will come before then.

I am pleased that the Doctor is well. But are you well, also?

Most cordial greetings,

Yours sincerely,

Footnotes

1 Receipt of this postcard is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 3/3, p. 2434, May 30,1922: "Von Fanny Violin (K.): sagt sich an." ("From Fanny Violin (postcard): says she is coming.").

2 Jeanette had presumably apologized for not being at home when Fanny called, although an abortive visit is not recorded in Schenker's diary during the preceding days.

3 The feast of Sts Peter and Paul falls on June 29, around which day Heinrich and Jeanette habitually left for vacation in the Tyrol.
