Lieber, verehrter Meister 1

vielen Dank für Ihre Karte. 2 Sie haben solange nichts von uns gehört: 1.) weil wir beide die Grippe hatten und ich 2.) ausserdem noch eine Gallenblasenentzündung hatte, die mir eine Karlsbader Kur, Diät etc. eingetragen hat. Dies der Grund weshalb ich auch leider Sonntag das Gasthaus vermeiden muss. 3

Wie aber wäre es, wenn ich Sie vor dem Konzert abholen würde – also Sonntag zwischen 11 und ¼12 Uhr morgens zu Ihnen {recto} käme? Falls Sie damit einverstanden sind, schreiben Sie mir bitte nicht eigens!

Dear, revered Master, 1

Many thanks for your card. 2 You have not heard from us for such a long time since 1) we both had the flu and 2) in addition I also had an inflammation of the gall blader, which entailed my going to Karlsbad for a cure, special diet, etc. This is the reason why I must, regrettably, give the restaurant a miss on Sunday. 3

How would it be, though, if I were to come to you before the concert, i.e. Sunday between 11 and 11:15 in the morning? {recto} If you are agreed to that, please do not write to me just to say so!


All good wishes to the two of you from the two of us.
