Sehr geehrter Herr Direktor!

Dear Director,

If only the printers had acted upon my few words to the effect that formal diagram 1 will be added subsequently! 1 As things now stand, the citations of pages in the course of the gatherings are out by about 3: am I right in thinking that the printers will send me a complete set of gatherings once more for the purpose of correcting cited pages ? – Was that really the only reason why I often waited for so many gatherings before being able to send in the first one?

Perhaps we will still be able to bring pages into agreement.

[overwritten across paras 1-2, in crayon:] Dealt with February 7, 1912

With kind regards,
Your devoted

Footnotes

1 For Schenker's monograph Beethovens Neunte Sinfonie . Hertzka, in OC 52/76, January 12, 1918, proposed that Schenker add diagrams to precede movements 2, 3, and 4, as well as that already supplied for movement 1; in WSLB 94, January 15, Schenker readily agreed; in WSLB 96, February 3, he enclosed the diagram for the second movement.
