Sehr geehrter Herr Professor

Dein

I have just come from the hospital.

Dear Professor,

Since I have been here I have not yet heard a word from my attorney. 1 Forgive me if I entertain the suggestion that the letter you were going to deal with at my request might not still [?be sitting] in your winter coat? Please will you in any case have a look? We cannot take up your kind invitation for today. Am [?up] at 8 o'clock, at best I couldn't leave the house before 8.30. In a few minutes I must go home to give three lessons. 2 I collected Mother yesterday from the hospital. [?Payment] (5 florins a day!). More when we meet.

Greetings to you and Fanny! Your

Footnotes

1 After her arrival in Vienna on September 30, 1910, Jenny Kornfeld stayed at the Hotel de France on the Schottenring.

2 With no lessonbooks available until 1912, it is useful to know from this that in 1910/11 Schenker was giving three lessons on Fridays, presumably from 4 p.m. on.
