Fl ! 1

Disponiere dich heiter u. entschlossen!

Floriz, 1

We would gladly help you over your empty hours, but we don't rightly know how we should do that. 2 I have to admit that we ourselves are still caught up in agitation that cannot be of any comfort to you. 3 Nevertheless, we are on top of the situation at least sufficiently to be able gladly to make ourselves available to you for any purpose at a time convenient to you. Our attempts to offer ourselves to you for an evening from time to time proved unsuccessful, but should not all of us sometime go to a theater or suchlike? Perhaps to a restaurant or coffee-house in an evening rendezvous with Fanny and you? Perhaps at Lie-Liechen's place 4 for the evening? Perhaps a little drinking spree at my place might be agreeable to us all?

Cheer yourself up and be decisive!

Footnotes

1 Writing of this letter is not recorded in Schenker's diary.

2 No communication from Moriz Violin at this time is known to survive. The question over sleeping arrangements for Heinrich and Jenny Kornfeld, raised in OJ 6/5, [1], has presumably been resolved by this time.

3 The "agitation" (literally "excitement") is spelled out in OJ 6/5, [4], October 5, 1911.

4 This suggests that in the meantime an apartment has been found for Jenny Kornfeld.
