Let me know, communicate ‒ at least a brief word from you about yourself, Olli 2 and Fanny! © Translation Ian Bent, 2019 |

Footnotes1 Heinrich and Jenny have been vacationing in Sulden in the South Tyrol together since the beginning of July, combining hikes in the mountains with drafting Die Kunst des Vortrags . Writing of this letter is not recorded in Schenker's diary. 2 "Olli": Schenker's diary for September 12, 1911 refers to her as "Frau O.", and letters from Heinrich and Jeanette refer to her as "Frau Oly," "Frau Olli," "Oli," and "Olly" (OJ 8/1, [3], June 11, 1911, OJ 6/5, [1], OJ 6/5, [2], August 18 and 26, 1911), diminutive, presumably, of a first name such as Olivia, with whom Violin was evidently in a relationship. He was not married at this time: he married on November 12, 1912 to Valerie ("Wally", "Vally") (maiden name unknown). |
