Meine Lieben! 1

Seit vorgestern hier, erhalte Deinen l.

My dears, 1

Here since the day before yesterday, I am in receipt of your letter, 2 which was forwarded by Liserl. – Enclosed [is] 10 million that you ask for. I would have preferred to wait a little, but I must [go] to a meeting that I can’t put off. If at all possible, I will call on you the day after tomorrow, Monday, in order to see you. 3 My family are still in Reichraming, since the schools do not begin until October 1. I will probably be able to set out again as early as Tuesday. I am in significantly better health.

Footnotes

1 Receipt of this letter is not recorded in Schenker’s diary.

2 Presumably that recorded in Heinrich’s diary for September 6, 1927: “An Mozio (Br.): bitte um 1000 Sch. zur Deckung der nächsten Zahlungen, Zahnarzt usw.” (“To Mozio (letter): I ask for 1,000 shillings to cover the next payments, the dentist, etc.”).

3 Schenker’s diary for September 11 records: “An Mozio Telegramm (2.72 S.): lade ihn für morgen ein.” (“To Mozio telegram (2.72 shillings): I invite him for tomorrow.”), and that for September 12: “Mozio von 11–12; er erwartet eine Anstellung; den Betrag für Frieda will er sich noch überlegen.” (“Mozio from 11 to 12; he is expecting to be given a position; he still wants to think about the payment for Frieda.”) – The diary for September 8 had recorded: “Nach der Jause erscheint Hans Guttman. — Von Sophie u. Frieda (Br.): bitten um Mozios Hilfe.” (“After teatime, Hans Guttman appears. — From Sophie and Frieda (letter): they ask for Mozio's help.”). — From the September 12 entry, and the absence of headed notepaper, we can deduce that Moriz is currently out of a job.
