In September 1910, Schenker was invited there to meet with members of the Vereinigung Wiener Referenten to discuss s planned lecture series on Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. On May 26, 1924 the important meeting with Emil Hertzka and Robert Winter of UE, with Jeanette and Schenker's brother Moriz in attendance, took place at which the conversion of Der Tonwille to a quarterly publication was discussed. In September of that year he and Jeanette went there for coffee, and he commented on the "state of final decay with new marble furnishings". WSLB-Hds 191.565 Handwritten letter from Schenker to Deutsch, dated July 20, 1930 In this 16-page response to a letter from Deutsch, Schenker thanks his correspondent for his unstinting assistance (in relation to the third Meisterwerk yearbook) and underlines the importance of a collected edition of the works of C. P. E. Bach. — He then launches a long and detailed denunciation of Anthony van Hoboken’s character, referring in particular to his treatment of Otto Vrieslander, his ambivalence towards projects associated with the Photogram Archive, and his absconding to Berlin to study the piano with Rudolf Breithaupt; Hoboken is thoroughly undeserving of a high honor conferred by the Austrian state.
