Distinguished Austrian-Hungarian general and commander of the army in World War I.

From 1906 to 1911, Hötzendorf was chief of staff of the Austrian-Hungarian army. He was demoted by Emperor Karl in 1917 and until July 1918 was designated commander of an army group in Italy which was named after him (in his diary Schenker notes his resignation on July 16). Subsequently he was the colonel of several guard regiments.
