Rinn and Schenker

Schenker had extensive correspondence with Rinn between February 1927 and December 1934 (OJ 5/32, 14 items;OJ 13/25, 45 items). Rinn corresponded under the letterheads of Der Kunstwart and its continuation as the Deutsche Zeitschrift, of Munich, of which he was editor between October 1926 and 1937. In correspondence with UE, Schenker arranged for a complete set of Der Tonwille to be sent to Rinn in December 1930 (WSLB 424, OC 52/866).

Schenker published six articles in the journal, the first three under the Der Kunstwart masthead, the latter three under that of the Deutsche Zeitschrift:

  • "Ein verschollener Brief von Mozart und das Geheimnis seines Schaffens," vol. 44 (July 1931), 660‒66
  • "Eine Anzeige und eine Selbstanzeige," vol. 46 (Dec 1932), 194‒96
  • "Erinnerung an Brahms," vol. 46 (May 1933), 475‒82 [written for the centenary of Brahms's birth]
  • "Vom Unterschied zwischen der italienischen und der deutschen Musik," vol. 47 (August 1934), 700‒703
  • Copies of all six are preserved in OJ 20/10.
